Coldplay
The British alt-rock band formed by college pals Chris Martin and Jonny Buckland back in 1996 has grown into one of the most influential bands of the past decade. Their breakthrough hit ‘Yellow’ and debut album Parachutes came in 2000; by the time their follow-up A Rush of Blood to the Head arrived in 2002, they had gone from buzzed-about It Band to stadium-headlining megastars.
The group won the EMA for Best UK & Ireland Act in 2002 and again in 2005, when they also took home the Best Song award for ‘Speed of Sound’. After a three-year break since their last album, Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends, in 2008, Coldplay returns in 2011 with the eagerly anticipated Mylo Xyloto.
